THE RIGHT REV. CHARLES J. S. KASONDE BISHOP OF SOLWEZI

Born on 14th December 1968 in Kalulushi. He was ordained priest on 4th August, 2001 in Ndola. Between 1990 – 1998 he studied for the Priesthood starting at Emmaus Spirituality Centre in Lusaka and then Mpima’s St. Augustine Seminary in Kabwe where he obtained a Diploma in Philosophy. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology at St. Dominic’s Seminary in Lusaka. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Technical and Vocational Teaching from Luanshya TVTC. He was awarded a Licentiate in Systematic Theology (Dogmatic Theology) by St. Mary’s Seminary and University – Baltimore, USA after successfully completing his studies there. He has held several pastoral positions including as Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator (Ndola), Parish Priest, St. Kizito (2001 – 2004), Parochial Vicar at Sacred Heart Parish (1998 – 2000) and National Pastoral Coordinator (ZEC now ZCCB) 2004 – 2010. Appointed Bishop of Solwezi on 23rd March 2010, he was ordained as the fourth Bishop of Solwezi, on 29th May 2010.
