RIGHT REV. BISHOP GABRIEL MSIPU PHIRI

The bishop Gabriel Msipu Phiri was born on 13th December 1964. He completed Secondary education in 1984. In 1985, Bishop Msipu proceeded to St. Augustine’s Major Seminary in Mpima, Kabwe where he studied Philosophy. Later, in 1989, he went to St. Dominic’s Major seminary in Lusaka for Theological studies and was ordained priest on 15th September 1991.
Having served in various pastoral offices in the Diocese of Chipata and at the Catholic Secretariat in Lusaka, Bishop Msipu was appointed by Pope Francis as the Auxiliary Bishop of Chipata Diocese on 16th December 2022. In this role, he assists Bishop George Lungu in the administration of the diocese, a position he continues to hold.
